This software is quite complicated and tracks the motion based on the pixel difference between each consecutive frame.
Update the firmwareĪs we said at the beginning of this article, the most popular motion detection is the algorithmic-based one. These features vary between manufacturers, but the logic is the same across all platforms. If you click you can see the activity that was recorded and simply go to the live view mode. Once a motion event happens in your security camera system, you’ll get an alert (push notification) at the top of your phone screen. Additionally, you need to authorize the phone to let these alerts show on your phone screen. Most of the CCTV apps have a single toggle on the phone where you can enable the alerts. After that, you can enable the push notifications on the app’s settings. Make sure you can see the cameras on the phone (live view playback). These settings vary between manufacturers, however, the idea is to link the CCTV phone app to your camera or DVR/NVR and get alerts once the motion is triggered. You may have activated the motion detection correctly but you’re still not getting any notifications on the phone and that’s because you need to set up the push notifications separately. Set up the push notifications on the phone app Another suggestion is to reset the motion detection schedule and re-do the settings from the beginning.Ģ. These include settings such as increasing the sensitivity level depending on the object size or longevity of the motion, adjusting the contrast. If you did these settings and the motion still doesn’t work, then adjust the sensitivity and threshold level. Keep in mind, some security cameras will initiate motion detection by default while some have it disabled. These tweaks are done on the settings section of your camera or NVR DVR. There are two things you need to do: first, you have to enable the motion detection for each camera, second, you need to set up your system to record on motion (and not continuous mode). The motion detection settings need to be configured and activated in order for the system to detect motion alerts. If your security camera system never detected any motion, most likely the motion feature was never enabled in the first place.
Importantly, make sure to configure port forwarding in the router for both port 90 for remote access. I prefer to set up with static ip instead of dhcp and make sure to find out what your ip address and use the ISP ip address to access remotely (away from home) with all the apps.
I installed both on my iPhone 6, iPad 4 and Toshiba Android Pad.
The iOS and Android apps work perfectly without any problems. So this could be a break deal for people who only have Mac.
Windows OS has the software called AVI Generator (PC) that can convert downloaded video “.rf” to ‘.avi’.
The set up is easy, but the video play back files are not playable with any player on Mac OS X, only playable with the Night Owl HD CMS.
The 1080P camera don’t display as clear as the 480p I had on line, but the recording videos did come out much clearer due to 720p. The 1080P recording only at 15fps while 720p is 30fps, I prefer the 720p 30fps. Costco has one box on sale for $299 with 4HD cameras and 1080p recording, so I got one to try out. 3 years ago I got a Night Owl Security Camera Box for my house and one of the camera port no longer records.
